Law Enforcement Guidelines
Last updated 11 September 2026
These guidelines are for law enforcement agencies seeking information from MaryamsList. They are not legal advice and do not waive any objection or requirement under applicable law.
Where to send requests
Send all legal process, preservation requests and emergency disclosure requests to legal@maryamslist.com. Put the request type in the subject line, for example "Emergency Disclosure Request" or "Search Warrant". We accept service by email; email is the fastest route and we monitor this address every business day.
What we require
- Basic subscriber information (name, email address, phone number, account creation date, recent IP logs): a valid subpoena or equivalent legal process.
- Non-content records (message metadata, match and introduction history): a court order under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(d) or equivalent.
- Message content and uploaded photos: a search warrant issued on probable cause under the Stored Communications Act or equivalent.
Every request must identify the account precisely — the registered email address or mobile number — and state the specific records sought and the date range. Broad or unspecific requests will be returned for narrowing.
Emergency disclosure requests
Where we believe in good faith that there is an emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury — including suspected human trafficking or exploitation — we may disclose information without legal process. Email legal@maryamslist.com with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line, from an official government email address, describing the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and the specific information needed. We aim to respond to emergency requests within a few hours.
Preservation requests
We will preserve available account records for 90 days pending legal process, and extend once for a further 90 days on request. Preservation does not disclose any records.
Notice to members
Our policy is to notify members of requests for their information before disclosure, so they may object, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so, or where notice would create a risk of harm, of injury to a child, or of the destruction of evidence.
What we hold, and what we do not
We hold account details, profile answers, uploaded profile photos, introduction history and in-app messages. Identity verification is carried out by our verification partner, Stripe Identity; government ID documents and selfie images are held by them, not by us. We retain only the pass or fail outcome and the confirmed date of birth. Text messages are delivered through our SMS provider. Records for deleted accounts may no longer be available.
Child safety
MaryamsList is strictly 18+ and every member's age is confirmed from a government photo ID. Any apparent child sexual abuse material is preserved and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
